Inviting Vulvas

This series expresses the irony and parody of Parafeminism, aiming to displace the viewer, who may ordinarily be uncomfortable with the indiscriminate abject female body. This work responds to my own subjective experience of being a woman, expressing celebration, paying homage, and deifying, bringing into play exaggeration and fetishisation.

My intention is to enable the witness, through displacement, to experience the act of sexualising the corporeal and see-sawing into the possibility of experiencing the subject’s power, thus empowering the subject who is in turn objectifying the gazer. To quote philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche from Beyond Good or Evil, “If thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee.”
